SUMMARY
Solicits parts business from assigned accounts through in-person, telephone, and other electronic methods of communication. Manages customer relationship with assigned accounts with a focus on profitable customer sales growth across all departments in the dealership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Visits all assigned customers a minimum of twice per month. Develop and maintain strong relationships with all assigned accounts. Immediately notifies parts manager of any conflicts or issues related affecting the ability to do this.
Targets 10% year over year part sales growth with all assigned accounts. Develops detailed business/sales plans to accomplish this goal.
Serves as a default product and systems trainer for customers. Coordinates with the appropriate vendor, supplier, manufacturer, or dealership employees to assist or handle these tasks as necessary.
Actively pursues all-makes parts sales opportunities with all assigned accounts.
Prepares for and attends required sales meetings.
Prospects for new business with existing and new customers.
Independently researches and investigates existing, new, and/or related product information in order to serve as a product manner expert for customers and peers.
Creates and distributes sales oriented marketing materials and product quotes.
Communicates parts orders to counter or phone sales staff.
Communicates order and delivery status with customers.
Coordinates with Parts Manager to maintain sufficient inventory levels to meet customers demand.
Notify Parts Manager and/or Director of Parts Operations of all customer service related issues.
Gathers competitive pricing intelligence for parts manager and director of parts operations.
Checks with customers to ensure that delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable before ordering.
Reviews any special orders with the parts manager and obtains his/her approval.
Obtains parts manager's approval for any special pricing. Works with Parts Manager to ensure a pricing strategy is in place for each customer to maximize dealer profitability.
Advises counterperson and/or warehouse staff on delivery instructions.
Follows up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly.
Coordinates service sales with service sales, counter, and/or management staff. Assists in the advancement/prioritization of assigned customers vehicle’s through the service department.
Acts as a public relations liaison for the dealership. Actively promotes all departments of the dealership to our customers (New, Used, Lease, Body Shop, Service, and Parts). Works with appropriate personnel in each department to pass along leads or research customer issues.
Maintains confidentiality of internal issues.
Turns in completed call reports, time sheets, and expense reports on-time.
Attends training seminars and/or completes online classes as requested by the Parts Manager. Including; Navistar Training, Self-Study Training, and Vendor/Supplier Training, and any other industry relevant training that is assigned.
Actively manages and maintains any assigned customer consignment inventory as per the company consignment inventory agreement. Including; rotating inventory, updating inventory, regular physical inventory counts, and consignment inventory rationalization.
Maintains professional appearance.
MARGINAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Updates customer records to reflect changes to customers' names, addresses, etc.
Adds new customers to appropriate mailing lists.
Reviews any special orders with the parts manager and obtains his/her approval.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Five to Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of two years of fleet phone or counter person experience will be a prerequisite for this position.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure letters/manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications, Applicable Vendor or Part Manufacturer Training Course Certificates, Valid Drivers License, Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist Certification.

TRANSPORTATION All transportation needs for this position are the responsibility of the outside sales representative. The company shall not be responsible to provide a vehicle or transportation for the outside sales representative. The vehicle and maintenance of the vehicle is the sole responsibility of the outside sales representative. The parts sales representative is required to maintain a neat and clean vehicle that is in good physical and mechanical running condition while making customer sales calls. A Lack of dependable transportation can result in re-assignment of duties, suspension, or dismissal.
